ABSTRACT

Some experiences of carrying out the Extended Leak-off Test (ELOT) in two deep exploration wells drilled in Japan, in northern Hokkaido and Niigata prefecture, are presented with an evaluation of the stress states. Different pressure records obtained in the wells and depths are shown, and evaluation procedures considering the geological features of the relevant formation are described. The authors propose a modified procedure of the test for improving the accuracy of the interpretation and ensuring the well integrity.
