ABSTRACT

The genus Trachypatagus, created by Pomel in 1868, has been discovered for the first time in two miocen fields from Basse-Provence. The generic and specific reffering of these Echinids is discussed. The two species Trachypatagus tuberculatus and Trachypatagus peroni become synonymous. The stratigraphical and geographical repartition of all the species belonging to Trachypatagus know in our days is remind. The precise stratigraphical position of fields from Rhône Basin is indicated and their paleoecological context is analysed.
