ABSTRACT
A supervised pest control programme has been in progress in the orchards of Emilia Romagna since 1973. The programme, which initially involved only ten holdings and related exclusively to apple-growing, now numbers just under 400 holdings and has expanded to cover apples, pears, peaches and grapes.
