ABSTRACT

Cotton-growing in Spain covers an area of about 50 000 ha, mostly in the Guadalquivir valley, with 5096 in the Seville region and 25% in the region of Cordoba. The area under cotton is expected to increase to about 100 000 ha by 1983, owing to à reduction in harvesting costs as à result of mechanization, and crop protection treatment (through the Agrupaciones de Tratamientos Integrados en el Algodon – Groups for Integrated Treatment in Cotton-growing – ATRIA).
