ABSTRACT
It is the entomologists who have the honour of opening this meeting with a session on “insect pests”. In other words, phytophagous organisms are still of great economic importance, whether they are indigenous species, species which have been accidently introduced and whose distribution in the Mediterranean region is increasing, and even species not yet present but which have already been announced over our borders and cannot be ignored.
