ABSTRACT

Some peculiar features of the common fungal and bacterial diseases of the Mediterranean region are described.

Beside the bacterial disease due to Pseudomonas syringae pv. syringae, the fungal diseases treated are: root rots (Armillaria mellea, Rosellinia necatrix, Phytophthora spp.), Phytophthora gummosis (Phytophthora spp.) brown rot (Phytophthora spp.) gum diseases (Botryosphaeria ribis, Phomopsis citri, Hendersonula toruloidea, Diplodia natalensis), anthracnose (Colletotrichum gloeosporioides) and mal secco (Phoma tracheiphila). This last diseases is exclusive of the Mediterranean basin.
