ABSTRACT

Lemons of the Femminello comune, Femminello Continella, Femminello zagara bianca, Interdonato, Lisbon and Monachello varieties grown in Sicily were stored at 12°C for 60 days. The Femminello Continella and Monachello varieties showed some resistance to membranosis, where as the other varieties proved highly susceptible. The disease spread most rapidly in the first 30 days of storage. An analysis of the mineral composition of the membranes showed no direct relationship between it and susceptibility to the disease. The chemical and organolep tic properties of the juice were not affected by the progress of the disorder.
