ABSTRACT
The synergistic effect of single amino acids, in increasing Ceratitis capitata catches, when added to McPhail traps, baited with ammonium sulfate, was studied. More females were cought in traps containing the ammonium salt and one of the following amino acids:Isoleucine, valine, cystine, leucine, glutamic acid, tryptophane, lysine, alanine, arginine. Isoleucine trapped equal numbers of the two sexes, while, valine, tryptophane, aspartic acid, arginine, isoleucine, and glutamic acid trapped more males. The synergistic capacity of amino acids to ammonia salts, it is also discussed.
