Continuous surface miners – A mining system for hard materials and selective mining

Wirtgen Surface Miners are machines designed for open-cast mining. They are track mounted machines equipped with a horizontally placed cutting drum. An integrated primary conveyor accepts the cut material and transports it to a slewable discharge conveyor. The depth of cut is adjusted by electro-hydraulic control and can be levelled automatically, if desired. The equipment is fitted with a dust supression system and a generator to provide power for the all-round lighting system which enables 24 hour operation.
