ABSTRACT

This chapter will focus instead on mechanisms and clinical presentations that are most relevant to pediatric patients, as well as patients of any age with congenital heart disease (CHD). Multiple features set these groups apart from the typical adult with cardiac arrhythmias, ranging from differences in cell physiology to variance in body size and cardiac anatomy that can have profound influences on timing and performance of invasive procedures. An overview of such features will be provided here, with more detailed discussion of specific items in chapters that follow.
