ABSTRACT

Grading is required for quality aspects like size, color, volume, texture, and hydration. A tremendous scope has arisen for grading the vegetables and fruits from farms, dispatch, and to consumers. More sophisticated robotic manipulators grading systems are needed for fruit and vegetables that are kept in piles and stock houses. Primarily based on the optical characteristics at near Infra-Red levels sensors are preferred for the grading of fruits and vegetables. Sensors assessed readings are utilized for algorithms and image processing. Advanced sensing technologies need to be addressed; some of these sensing systems are magnetic resonance, spectroscopy, chemical sensing, x-rays, wireless sensor networks (WSN), computer vision, mechanical contact, and radio-frequency identification sensors. This chapter focuses on the present eminence of dissimilar sensing systems in terms of commercial applications.
