ABSTRACT

This book chapter discusses a new, bio-mass-derived sustainable feedstock which was employed for the synthesis of tetrahydrobenzo[b]pyran and tetraketone derivatives. In this context, water extract of Tamarindus indica seed ash (WETSA) has been proven as a reaction media for one-step multicomponent coupling reactions (MCRs) which acted as a basic catalyst. The desired products were separated using a simple precipitation technique with excellent yield and less reaction time. The catalyst was recycled up to four times without any significant loss of catalytic activity.table
