ABSTRACT

The worldwide interdependence of markets for agricultural products has increasingly brought to the forefront the need to develop strategies that can mitigate the adverse effects on the environment and will result in products that are safe for human consumption. The development of nanotechnology has provided an exciting and novel frontier to nearly all fields of industrial applications with a profound impact on human life and welfare. Several conventional physical and chemical protocols such as melt mixing, laser pyrolysis or ablation, vapor deposition, sputtering, thermolysis, photoreduction, micro-emulsion and sol-gel, ultrasonic fields and ultraviolet irradiation have been successfully employed for nanoparticle synthesis for decades. Transformation of bulk elements to the nano level not only reduces its size, but also leads to the formation of different shapes such as spherical, triangular, truncated triangular, octahedral, rod and flower shaped. Carbon is considered to be a brick molecule for simple as well as complex architectural designs of almost all molecules.
