ABSTRACT

The classroom is an essential platform for learning. Classroom environment includes the physical features of the classroom as well those that work on a mental level. If physical elements of the class, viz ambience, temperature setting, ergonomics, decorations, cleanliness, seating arrangement, etc., are not proper, it is very difficult for students to focus on their subject. In such a scenario, students would constantly feel uncomfortable, and it would be difficult for them to have a mind which is ready to learn. Similarly, psychological factors also play a role in constructing classroom environment. For effective learning, it is important for the students to have good peer relationships and a good relationship with the teacher. An environment will be healthy if all involved communicate with ease, even in difficult situations. It is important to understand which factors of classroom environment impact it the most and are sufficient to interrogate while administering any research. The College and University Classroom Environment Inventory (CUCEI) questionnaire developed by Fraser et al. (1986) has been used to collect data and on the collected data set, factor analysis has been applied.
