ABSTRACT

The environmental crises in Mexico City are caused mainly by the emissions generated by the big number of vehicles. Several programs have been developed and implemented to reduce the emissions for more than three decades, lowering the concentration of some pollutants, however, pollutions contingencies are presented year to year. To contribute with the reduction of emissions the Consortium for the Life Cycle Assessment of Transport Infrastructure is created, having as a goal to propose advanced ideas and using the Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) methodology as a robust forecasting model. The initial research areas defined by the Consortium are implementing actions to reduce transport emissions, the harmonization of the LCA process in road industry, and actions to improve the condition of the primary road network of the Mexico City.
