ABSTRACT

The main objective of this activity was to analyse the types of transformation envisaged to introduce nature to the city, in order to better understand the representations of how nature in the city should be. Starting from this, the aim of this second workshop is to put the different points of view on nature in the city from both experts and inhabitants into perspective, in order to imagine prototypes of nature in the city that respond to environmental preservation issues as well as human well-being/health. The growth of the urban population is obvious: more than 50% of the world population resides in cities, whereas in France 3/4 of the population is now urban. The photos centred around a visual notion of nature were selected 13 times, with the idea of a horizon dominating the explanations. The photos referring to smell centred on preferences relating the smells of edible nature and were chosen 12 times.
