ABSTRACT
Internet of things (IoT) is future direction of network development. The goal of IoT is to smartly connect everything. However, there exist many challenges to realize the goal, such as power sources, access technologies and architectures. This chapter first states the origin of IoT, describes its development history, discusses existing and arising technologies of IoT, accesses algorithms and backscatter technology and suggests the challenges of implementing IoT for 5G and 6G.
