ABSTRACT

Climate changes threaten significantly and diversely human health now and maybe for longer times. Sustainable health in a community requires following systematic approaches in investigating the effects of climate change and designing indicators, frameworks, and measures to observe and interpret various risk factors on health, hence ensuring the growth of the society. The Internet of things (IoT) technology can sustainably promote human health and well-being via detecting and tracking the impacts of climate change on health. Applying IoT in health can develop a systematic approach for both health and the environment as it enables combining the wider health fields in a greater paradigm for enhancing sustainability in health regarding economic, social, and ecological domains. Such consolidation allows a strong IoT architecture for sustainable health and societal aspirations concerning climate change. This chapter describes the climatic effects on human health. It discusses detecting, communicating, and tracking techniques with ecological real-world applications. It also explores the influence of critical health and ecological elements on developing novel IoT technologies along with limitations and future potentials. Applying IoT to healthcare could sustainably develop both health and the environment in parallel to economic and societal growth supporting a strong health IoT architecture for facing climate changes, including better air quality, more green urbanization, and fewer floods. Despite the IoT's widespread use and good achievements, there are still relevant issues of different countries to focus their efforts on their speedy resolution.
