ABSTRACT

Lack of energy is a problem that affects daily human efficiency. The actual market offers energetic drinks that can lead to critical diseases, hyperglycemia, tachycardia, upon others. Thus energy beverages based on nutraceutical properties are a feasible solution that at the same time are socially accepted. Ginseng (Panax ginseng) and green tea (Camellia sinensis) have both demonstrated to activate the sympathetic nervous system, regulation of chemical stress, immune modulation, antitumor activities, glucose metabolism, and cognitive performance. On the other hand, rambutan (Nephelium lappaceum) provides vitamins and biocompounds that are beneficial for human consumption. Extracts of rambutan fruit, mainly from the peel, have been shown to possess phytochemical compounds that exhibit antioxidant, antimicrobial, antidiabetic, antiviral, anti-inflammatory, antihypoglycemic, and antiproliferative effects in various in vitro and in vivo tests. Then it is possible to combine these three products in an energy drink to stimulate the 110nervous system and also with other nutraceutical benefits. The objective of this work was to propose a beverage based on rambutan, ginseng, and green tea.
