ABSTRACT

This chapter is based on a case study done in Quzhou County, a typical county in the North China Plain. A specific object of the study is to understand the impact of fertilizer application on the soil organic matter (SOM) content and crop yield. The soil in Quzhou County includes fluvo-aquic soil, saline soil and cinnamon soil. Among them, the fluvo-aquic soil is the most predominant and accounts for 98.2% of the total land area. On the basis of soil texture, there are four soil types in Quzhou County: loamy fluvo-aquic soil, loamy cinnamon soil, sandy cinnamon soil, and clayey fluvo-aquic soil. The basic data of the experiment were processed using Excel 2016, and SPSS 21.0 was used to conduct a one-way analysis of variance to assess the different characteristics of soil nutrient, SOM content, and crop yield for different soil types in 1980, 2000, and 2018.
