ABSTRACT

The biotechnological importance at industrial levels is increasing everyday. By combining the availability of residual materials or responsible exploitation of biomass with biotechnological means, the overall process becomes safer and environmentally friendly. There isan extensive array of compounds of natural origin, which have been attributed with several bioactivities, many of which are of phenolic nature. These compounds are found in nature and most of them are glycosylated in plant tissues. The most common way to obtain them is by physicochemical extraction, which can be costly and may produce pollutants. By the 672use of microorganism that is able to degrade these types of compounds, it is possible to produce and recover the enzymes responsible to release bioactive aglycones and accumulate said compounds in the same bioprocess or in a separate system. An approach to bioprocess resources for enzyme and bioactive production is fermentations with microorganisms that produce the necessary enzymes for the purpose of interest. Also, examples will be addressed for biomolecules isolation, recovery, and ß-glucosidase structure simulations from microbial sources.
