ABSTRACT

One of the main topics of discussion at the meetings of the heads of the world's leading States is the problem of the planetary climate. Global warming is the most serious environmental threat of the twenty-first century, and only by taking action now can we be sure that future generations will not face this threat. The Chapter discusses the causes of global climate change, fluctuations in the radiation balance, the impact of Quaternary glaciations on the climate, climate changes in recent centuries and decades, the increase in surface air temperature, dangerous hydrometeorological phenomena, as well as possible consequences for the planet, forecasts and solutions.
