ABSTRACT

Climate change has various effects on different locations. Unfortunately, most areas are badly affected and among them is Iran. The country is located in the arid and desert ecosystems which even a little change, would have a crucial impact on agriculture and food. So, climate change has lots of negative side effects on socio-economic patterns. Agricultural and food economy; and migration are among the two specific dimensions that have suffered from negative effects. Population growth exceeds agrifood's production and many farms and gardens, wetland or dryland systems are threatened by floods, frosts, soil erosion, landslide, land subsidence, severe water stress and water scarcity whilst improper management of water and natural resources exacerbates side effects. As the result, rural-urban migration was completed and we are now in the second wave: urban-urban migration. The next step certainly is the migration to other countries, specifically Turkey and Europe. Although, there are doubt about the weight of climate change on migration, studies ranked it among top three reasons and we try to draw a real picture of the story by reviewing literature and concentrating on data.
