ABSTRACT

Modifiable lifestyle factors, such as obesity, lack of physical activity, stress, and smoking, contribute greatly to cancer and chronic disease morbidity and mortality worldwide. This chapter appraises recent evidence on modifiable lifestyle factors in the prevention of endometrial, cervical, and ovarian cancers as well as new evidence for lifestyle recommendations for patients living with or survivors of endometrial cancer and ovarian cancer. Recent advances in next generation sequencing have led to increased understanding of the role of gut microbiome in human health. In this chapter we also discuss the evidence linking lifestyle, the microbiome, and gynecologic malignancies.
