ABSTRACT

Citrus is the major fruit crop in the world and its production is not up to the mark. To keep the citrus industry viable all over the world, farmers must be able to grow high-quality fruits with optimized financial returns. High output levels are not always possible for a variety of reasons. One of the major factors is assumed to be a lack of knowledge about citrus nutritional requirements. To better understand how citrus reacts to nutritional imbalance, this chapter discusses plant nutrient allocation in citrus growth, plant nutrient requirements, and nutritional disorders. Leaf sampling is discussed as a fundamental step in diagnosing nutritional disorders in order to avoid errors in diagnosis and recommendations. There is also detailed information on malnutrition-induced physiological disorders and some diseases. This chapter is intended to provide researchers, growers, and students with background information on nutrient management and to assist them in understanding citrus behavior under various nutritional conditions.
