ABSTRACT

Optimization and management of a complex farming system – such as distantly located farms with different crops and livestock, among other factors – are modified to become convenient and remotely feasible with the adoption of the Internet of Things. Sensors and all of the building blocks of IoT have opened a wide range of IoT applications in smart farming. This chapter will discuss the deployment of IoT platforms in performing different farming activities involved in the administration and storage of immensely voluminous data on a cloud while maintaining cost-effectiveness.
