ABSTRACT

Artificial intelligence (AI), particularly deep learning, is becoming the prime tool for identifying the complexity of patterns present in the genomic data. The various applications of AI in genomics range from the 3D organization of chromatin, expression, and regulation of genes, up to the analysis and interpretation of phylogenetic variants. Aside from the broad applications just mentioned, this chapter is specifically focused on exploring the detailed role of AI in studying and training gene expression datasets and, ultimately, its role in enhancing precision medicine. The first half of this chapter covers AI’s applicability in the analysis of clinical genomics data concerning variant calling, variant classification, and genome annotation. Following that, the role of AI in gene expression data analysis shall be discussed.
