ABSTRACT

The blood bank at JPMC is one of the largest blood Banks in the city. It carries about 1,500 pints of blood and other product inventory. This paper aims to eliminate all the manual paperwork done in the blood bank. The solution proposed in this regard is to replace the manual data entry with an automated bioinformatics artificial intelligence (AI) software application, which can effectively manage the overall processes of the blood bank. The system consists of the registration of donors, recording donation transactions, recording and screening transactions, product extraction information, recording requisition transactions, and issuing blood. It also manages the product inventory of screening, reserved, and reactive blood. The demand and supply of blood are increasing day by day, which leads to the consideration of a bioinformatics blood bank application which can maintain the inflow and outflow of blood. Consequently, a bioinformatics blood bank application is proposed and designed to overcome the manual work. The system  uses a thumb impression to identify the existing donors. Screening records are maintained to eliminate the receiving of reactive blood at the donation stage. Blood has been categorized so that patients can have the best possible blood for transfusion. The system also manages the requisition process, including requisition transactions, cross-matching, and issuance. The study tries to prove that the proposed system is more efficient than the conventional system.
