ABSTRACT

Artificial Intelligence (AI) is an innovative decisive technology used for early detection and diagnosis for proper screening, tracking, and predicting current and future patients. It is also used for development of drugs and vaccines. This chapter presents a survey of AI algorithms being used and implemented in different stages of treating the COVID-19 outbreak. Novel algorithms such as Support Vector Machine (SVM), Convolutional Neural Networks (CNN), Decision Tree, and K Nearest Neighbour (KNN) are extensively used to analyse and predict the spread and mortality rate of patients due to pandemic. A variety and abundant availability of data sets like chest X-ray images, CT scan images, and blood biomarkers have been utilized for analysis. The issues and challenges in applying AI for COVID-19 are also discussed. The effective utilization of AI algorithms helps healthcare and research institutes in breaking the chain of COVID-19.
