ABSTRACT

COVID-19 has impacted the whole world economically, and there is a clear indication of lack of resources and devices to control it. The alarming part is the speed with which the virus spreads. There is a need for doctors, nurses, and hospital staff to work overtime. This is not effective, as humans cannot work effectively for a long period of time, and health professionals come under close contact with the patients, which is highly risky for their health. This has given a grim warning to the entire world as to how essential facilities and economical solutions for the same need to be provided. This calls for technologies like IoT and AI to take over and help find solutions to address various challenges. In this chapter various applications of IoT with AI implementations in large-scale and small-scale screening and monitoring, implementation in ICUs and IoT wearables on body, thermal cameras, social distance monitoring and drone applications to combat this deadly virus are presented as detailed use cases. In addition, some novel ideas to further curb this virus are elucidated.
