ABSTRACT
During the COVID-19 global crisis that appeared almost everywhere in 2020, clinicians, scientists, and healthcare experts around the world kept searching for a new technology to support tackling the COVID-19 pandemic. The history of artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) applications on previous epidemics stimulated researchers by giving a new angle to battle the novel coronavirus outbreak. In this chapter, we review the role of AI as one significant method in the areas of contact tracing, predicting, and drug development to tackle the COVID-19 epidemic.
