ABSTRACT

Metal-based heterogeneous catalysts play a vital role in manufacturing organic molecules in efficient and creative ways. These catalysts find vast applications in industry as well as in fine chemistry. Apart from classical reactions such as oxidations, reductions and hydroformylations, the metal-based catalysts are now representing many interesting organic transformations including C–H/C–C activation and coupling reactions that lead to the synthesis of valuable organic structures. Along with the recent advancement of metal heterogeneous catalysts in classical organic synthesis, this chapter will also include new reactions with possible mechanistic pathways.
