ABSTRACT

With organic farming, the crops are grown without using synthetic agro-chemicals like fertilizers, pesticides, or genetically modified organisms. The requirement of perishable organic agricultural products has risen remarkably over the last few years. The main reasons behind this trend are increased population, a rise in per family income, and people's focus on quality diet. But this transformation in the food requirement has put sustainable agriculture in a compromising situation. To meet the current food requirements and practice sustainable agriculture using traditional framing seems to be a very challenging task. Consequently, today's need is to adopt smart equipment, tools, and techniques for organic farming to meet this challenge. Observing these facts, the various methods of smart farming are discussed in detail in this work. A thorough review of the various applications of smart agriculture, along with tools and techniques used, is also presented. We discuss an overview of advanced IoT (Internet of Things) based agricultural methods and the role of organic farming in sustainable agriculture. At last, various government policies for sustainable agriculture and green smart organic farming in India are also discussed. The requirement of a suitable farm nanagement system is highlighted to look after the important parameters like productivity, profitability, ecosystem, and human health for practicing and managing green smart sustainable agriculture.
