ABSTRACT

The article is dedicated to the research of the territorial-planning constituents of the urban planning components to be protected of both individual objects of cultural heritage and complexes of such objects. For clarity, the territorial-planning structure of one of UNESCO’s largest urban development entities, the World Heritage site “Historic Centre of Saint Petersburg and Related Groups of Monuments,” is analyzed. The research is relevant is due to the fact that in recent years the Russian Federation has been actively analyzing the accumulated so-called city-planning mistakes that have invaded the historical fabric of the development of both small and large historical cities and attempts are being made to prevent such mistakes. The purpose of the research is to identify the causes of the destruction of the historical environment of cultural heritage objects, consisting either in the imperfection of the protection system itself, or in an insufficient methodological study of the methods for its application. For the purposes of the research, the following methods were used: archival-bibliographic, cartographic, analytical, field studies. Results are: the territorial-planning constituents of urban planning components to be protected are analyzed and existing methods for their conservation are evaluated.
