ABSTRACT

The problem of adaptation of historically formed small railway station complexes and their adaptation to modern conditions is currently most acute in small and medium-sized cities of Russia. The study examines the historical and architectural heritage of railway complexes on the territory of the Belgorod region from the second quarter of the XIX century to the beginning of the XX century. Preconditions of formation of the station complexes in the Belgorod region and the periodization of the stages of development of the station complex as an important communications hub in the city. The prerequisites for the architectural modernization of railway station complexes at the present stage are formulated: socio-economic, technological, environmental, urban planning, functional planning and architectural art. The directions of development of historically formed railway station complexes as multifunctional communication nodes of the city and tourism objects are proposed. a theoretical model of modernization of railway station complexes in modern socio-economic conditions is Developed, taking into account the investment attractiveness by choosing the type of architectural modernization and tested on the example of project proposals for the modernization of railway station complexes in cities: Valuyki, Alekseevka and Proletarsky.
