ABSTRACT

This article presents the results and describes the process of reconstruction of the historical appearance of the Volodarsky bridge in the Leningrad (now - Saint Petersburg, Russia). The reconstruction was carried out in order to preserve the appearance of the lost historcal object and to popularize this urban environment object, which is both extraordinary from the engineering point of view (unique reinforced concrete arches spans) and urban planning point of view (connection of architectural ensembles of two city eras). An analysis was made of the solutions existing in the world and in Russia to preserve the appearances of lost architectural and engineering structures. The reconstruction of the historical appearance of the bridge was carried out by creating a polygonal model in the Trimble SketchUp, models of reinforced concrete prestressed arches of side spans were draw with high-precision. Plastic layout made using three-dimensional printing technology was also designed and manufactured. To prepare the bridge model layout, a search and study of architectural, engineering and operational documentation was conducted. Based on the results of the this project done, an analysis was made of the advantages and disadvantages of these methods and an assessment was made of their prospects when used for historical reconstruction of architectural and engineering objects.
