ABSTRACT

Today, the problem of creating an accessible environment is one of the most urgent ones that modern architects and restorers face. When adapting objects of cultural heritage, a number of difficulties arise, associated with the uniqueness of the architectural appearance of the building being adapted, the value characteristics of cultural heritage objects, the complex spatial and structural planning of buildings, the insufficient development of the legislative framework for working with heritage in this area, the inability to introduce most modern design achievements to adapt the environment into the historical space of the building. In this regard, at present, most of the historical buildings of Saint Petersburg and other cities of Russia continue to be inaccessible to people with disabilities, which is unacceptable in modern society. It is necessary to find a balance between the preservation of the historical heritage of cities and the development of a modern, accessible and comfortable living environment for all.
