ABSTRACT

The article is dedicated to research of the situating of representative and prestigious suburban estates – “estates of high nobility” on the territory of Peterhof district before 1917. These unique estates got special functional and spatial-landscape characteristics that significantly distinguish them from the “ordinary” noble estates. The relevance of the work is due to the fact that an active search is currently underway for solutions to adapt and preserve estate heritage of Russia. The aim of the research is to identify a separate type of objects, called “estates of high nobility.” For the purposes of the research the following methods were used: archival-bibliographic, cartographic, analytical, field studies. Results: the preserved and pre-existing estates of the high nobility are analyzed.
