ABSTRACT

This study aimed to determine the far-reaching impact of the development of information technology and the enormous digital digitization data in achieving sustainable development through smart cities and highlighting the latter as the main product for achieving sustainable development. Based on the descriptive approach to highlight the concepts related to the study and clarify the relationship between technical information and big data to achieve smart cities, using the analytical method in highlighting the obstacles that lie behind the inability of Arab countries to achieve smart cities.

The study found that access to the building of smart cities requires excellent technological power, high control of the vast data, and the world of electronic digitization. This can be achieved through the convergence of many parties and governmental institutions, social, economic, and security, with the provision of large funding to contribute to the requirements of smart cities’ sustainable development.
