ABSTRACT

This study explored the relationship between the psychological characteristics of the employee and work-life balance (WLB) with the help of data obtained from 520 service sector employees from the state of Kerala. The employee personality was measured with the help of the Ten Item Personal Inventory (TIPI) developed by Gosling, Rentfrow, and Swann (2003), a small-scale replica of the big five models of personal psychology. With the help of general linear modeling (GLM), it has found that employee personality characteristics have a significant as well as a large effect on the employee WLB level. The study reveals that the WLB is a phenomenon, which is interlinked with the psychological characteristics of the employee, and therefore, the interventions at a psychological level can have the potential to enhance the employee WLB level.
