ABSTRACT
The technological revolution, which is taking place around us, has created an apprehension amongst people for fear of loss of jobs and increasing inequality amongst them. It has been said that Artificial Intelligence (AI, hereafter) is a reason for generating this fear. A comparison of past automation and the current scenario shows that AI has reduced human efforts and has also helped in increasing productivity. The influence of AI can be seen in every field in life but do we understand where to stop?
This chapter gives an optimistic approach towards the potentials of AI and the risks involved in the workplace. It includes the following:
Relating the earlier periods of technology changes with modern evidence on the effects of artificial intelligence.
Present claims on the effects of artificial intelligence on the future of workers at the workplace.
Analyzing the fears and claims around artificial intelligence and answer the questions of why and how.
We will further see whether how AI has the ability to increase human productivity and intelligence with collaborating with humans and further help in increasing efficiency at the workplace.
