ABSTRACT

Why is so much talked about digital and business transformation in the past few years? Almost every business in every industry is disrupted, as evident from what they say in all forms of their business communications. Contemporary studies on business innovation and business transformation studies exhibit diverse approaches and recommendations. There is no doubt that business innovation has become a key factor for strategic and competitive advantage for business growth as agreed by both academic and business worlds. Still, there are gaps in contextualizing digital possibilities and business innovation or, for that matter, business transformation in practice. First of all, is business innovation directly connected to business transformation? Secondly, is digitalization is the only means for business transformation? Such mixed connotations are driving business leaders and researchers to probe beyond the traditional boundaries of strategic management, entrepreneurship, and technology management. In other words, there are emerging domains of business innovation with conflated approaches to linking digital possibilities and business transformation. This book chapter is to address some of those complementary constructs in forming a new perspective of four dimensions for understanding digitalization and business innovation.
