ABSTRACT

Promoting health education via media literacy is the strategy that has been adopted by the Anna FM radio, Chennai and broadcasted through its health programs that are targeted at women health care. These programs are providing health knowledge to women and simultaneously empowering them to embrace vigor. The researchers have used qualitative study of content analysis, focus group discussion from the Anna FM program “Magalir Neram” (women’s time). The study supported with the theory of planned behavior mediates to improvise women’s lives by promoting health literacy through Anna FM programs. The researchers have analyzed how the content is useful for the women community and they attempted to find out that the vernacular talk used in the program educates them. This study tries to research about the health promotion via media literacy education among women, including theoretical foundations that subjugate good health and longer sustainability of life.
