ABSTRACT

Education has always been identified as a priority sector for all the elected Government to emancipate masses at large from abject ignorance and illiteracy and recognized as important instruments for economic development, technological progress, reduction in poverty, and eradication of social inequalities in a country. The prime concern of this paper is to examine the significance the Information Technology as a facilitator in enabling Higher Education in light of the current status of admission/enrolment of students particularly in higher educational institutions and the factors that disable them to enroll themselves for the higher studies. To tackle the issues of low enrollment the Government of India has adopted a number of significant measures to make educational rights a practical reality by incorporating the information and technology as a facilitator in its endeavor to ensure education for all in new and emerging India. The emerging information and communication technology (ICT) trends, introduced in educational platforms like MOOCs, SWAYAM, etc., to ensure education easily accessible and affordable for a large section of society in a practical sense.
