ABSTRACT

The National Board of Accreditation self-assessment report for Tier-II engineering institutions in the country has ten different criteria covering different aspects of providing engineering education. These criteria rigorously assess the quality of engineering education offered by different programs of a nonautonomous engineering institution affiliated to a university. The Criterion 3 assesses the program outcomes (POs) attainment with the attainment of course outcomes (COs). Different approaches have been adopted by engineering institutions for the calculation of COs and POs attainment. This paper presents details about a simplified and comprehensive tool to collect assessment details from indirect assessment methods, like workshops, seminars, expert talk, internships, etc., and integrate with the Criterion 3 tool for evaluating PO attainment. These indirect activities may contribute to the courses prescribed under University like projects, mini projects of different subjects. Such contribution and its weights are identified, its COs are evaluated and added to the university course’s CO attainment. The goal is to integrate the outcomes from different indirect assessment methods conducted in educational institutions and improve the accuracy of program attainment of the course.
