ABSTRACT
The continuous growth in automation and various related technologies has led to home automation using Internet of things (IoT) where every appliance can be converted into a smart appliance by integrating wireless control with the help of Internet using network protocol (TCP/IP). This book chapter discusses about IoT-based home electronic appliance control system which has been designed with the help of ESP8266-based NodeMCU IoT development board. The mentioned system can control the basic tasks like switching that is, ON and OFF state of any home appliance to much complex tasks over the Internet from anywhere in the world with the help of an Android or iOS mobile application known as Blynk, which provides a user interface for a system. Moreover, the system is also voice-controlled which can be commanded over Google Assistant.
