ABSTRACT

Software-defined networking (SDN) has been claimed to be a revolutionizing paradigm shift in networking that gives assurance to make the networks programmable, flexible, and dynamic in order to provide a relatively easier management and reduce complexity. As SDN influence has been increasing, the security of SDN technology is becoming a major concern. Distributed denial of service attacks are one of the potential attacks against the SDN environment. This chapter shows the survey of the research in a comprehensive way, relating to distributed denial of service defense mechanisms (detection, mitigation) in SDN.
