ABSTRACT

Atmosphere is a complex system that comprises various chemicals, gases and biological particles. There is an alarming rise in air pollutants due to the high intensity of urbanization and industrial, economic, biogenic and anthropogenic activities. This has led to very complex chemical reactions that resulted in an increase in carbon monoxide, nitrogen oxides, sulfur oxides, non-methane volatile compounds, toxic metals, ammonia and free radicals. In the present scenario, controlling air pollution has become one of the most difficult tasks in both developed and developing countries. Installing pollution-controlling devices in industries and automobiles may reduce air pollution to a certain extent. Governments should also implement stringent policies and create awareness among people to further reduce air pollution in earth’s atmosphere.
