ABSTRACT

The purpose of this research is to analyze the influence of economic literacy and the social environment on lifestyle and its impact on students’ consumption behavior. This research uses quantitative approaches with survey methods. The data collection employed a questionnaire as the instrument. The population in this study consists of students in the Department of Office administration of 13 vocational high schools, which are accredited by the Indonesian Board of National Accreditation for Schools with an A (very satisfying) score in Garut City. The determination of the number of samples used the formula described by Taro Yamane. A proportionate random sampling technique was used in pulling samples. The results show that the social environment has a positive impact on lifestyle, while economic literacy does not have any impact on lifestyle. The data analysis techniques employed structural equation modelling (SEM). The social environment affects student consumption behavior both directly and indirectly, while economic and lifestyle literacy directly impact student consumption behavior. The conclusion is that the high and low behavior of student consumption is influenced by economic literacy, social environment, and lifestyle.
