ABSTRACT

This study explains entrepreneurship intention of private Islamic University students in Jakarta and its affecting factors. The object of the study was 400 respondents from the Faculty of Economics and Business from Al Azhar University of Indonesia and University of Muhammadiyah Prof. Dr. Hamka. They were considered to represent Private Islamic Universities in Jakarta with accreditation A and B in entrepre-neurial concentration, Management Study Program. Compared to previous studies, this study provides an in-depth exploration of dimensions and indicators of entrepreneurship intention through multivariate analysis us-ing Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) method and specifically individual perception as mediation. The re-sults obtained revealed that the entrepreneurial intention of private Islamic University students in Jakarta was formed merely in having serious thoughts of business operations, yet their desire to have their own business was not too strong. Entrepreneurship intention was directly influenced by entrepreneurship attitude and indi-rectly influenced by entrepreneurship education and entrepreneurial self-efficacy through entrepreneurship at-titude.
